Layaway-Plan-Levi-Jeans.jpg
A recent article from The Financial Times reports that Levi Strauss & Co will begin offering its jeans on an installment plan to Indian consumers.

The idea of having to use a lay-away plan to pay for jeans may seem a bit unreal to people in the United States. However, as the article shows the Indian middle class has been able to buy many pricey consumer goods due to installment plans that are being offered to the growing middle class.
Capitan Midnight.jpgA recent article in the Wall Street Journal stated that, "With the economy tanking, lots of people are striking out on their own... now launching a start-up seems like a better bet than taking on an endless job hunt".

There are many reasons why people get into business. Not the least is because they want to be their own boss or they are tired of the boss they are working for and decide it is time to do their own thing. Others inherited the business, and yet others are led by passion for the product or service.

Quality - The Race for Quality has no Finish Line - So Technically It's More Like a Death MarchWhen I checked my mail today, I eagerly tore off the plastic wrap of this month's edition of Wired magazine and flipped open to find myself staring at the start of an article entitled "The Good Enuf Rvlutn" about how cheap and simple beats perfect almost every time.

I'm always surprised when I meet a fellow entrepreneur who's working on a fantastic new product that could be on the market today, but has instead spent the past 3 years - and plans to spend the next 2 years - getting it "just right."

The Despair poster for Quality sums it up best:

"The Race for Quality Has No Finish Line - so Technically It's More Like a Death March."

When creating new products - and please keep in mind I'm not talking about implantable medical devices, surgical instruments, avionics, or bear spray - it's better to get your product to market and tweak as you go than spend years in development.

British Airways EconomyI was flipping through the latest edition of the Robb Report earlier today and saw an advertisement from British Airways on their upcoming new level of pond-hopping service on custom-built Airbus A318s starting at $12,290 before taxes and fees.

The new direct route is 100% business class service flying twice a day, 6 days a week from JFK to London's City Airport near the Canary Wharf business district.
After returning home from 3 day's at Srini's Internet Income Summit, one thing is clear.

We're moving more and more into the world of social media, becoming ever more connected, relying even more so on trusted, social recommendations, and entering the world of "Socialnomics."

Quick! You need a babysitter TONIGHT. Where do you go? Google or Facebook?
Jeremy ClimbLast night after the first day of Srini's Internet Income Summit, Logan, Mahesh and I went over to Planet Granite and played on the adult Jungle Gym. Logan and I climbed to the top of the rope with no hands, and then I learned how to climb a rope upside down. You've got to love circus tricks.

Following a day of education and an evening of fun, I got home and had a chance to review Logan's slides for his presentation at this month's Bay Area Mastermind Business Networking Mixer.

Coming up on Thursday night, in addition to an evening of networking with other local bay area business owners and entrepreneurs, Logan's going to be sharing his secrets to how he went from a 9-5 stock boy at a health food store to an online marketer extraordinaire.

This is a guest post by Srini Saripalli. Srini is a Info-marketer, speaker and above all a blogger dedicated to helping entrepreneurs succeed online. It was indeed a pleasure and honor speaking at the Bay Area Mastermind. Even though I was there to talk about how offline marketers can benefit from taking their business online, my entire presentation was focused on three specific areas.

  1. Internet Marketing & Changing Dynamics
  2. How to attract a lot of traffic to your website, build lists and make money in the process
  3. The self discipline needed to build a thriving online business
kfc-coupon-oprah.jpgFor part 2 of my 3 part series on Marketing Campaigns Gone Wrong, let's take a look at Kentucky Fried Chicken.

Following up on Denny's offer of a free Grand Slam Breakfast for America, KFC went one step further by not only offering a free 2-piece chicken meal with 2 individual sides and a biscuit, but announced it on Oprah.

The only thing they didn't count on was a) that this was Oprah and b) that the online world would pick up the story and run with it, making the coupon one of the top trends on Twitter.
nightlights_.jpgThe Wall Street Journal reported on three economists from Brown University that have come up with an alternative method of determining economic growth.

They are suggesting that night time satellite pictures may prove to give us some insight on whether their is an increase or decrease in economic growth.
